I love cooking, especially baking. My mom baked all the time too, so I grew up on daily desserts. We worked hard on the farm, so I don’t think it hurt us. That is the problem with a lot of lifestyles today – not enough activity. Exercise is the great equalizer. Actually, it is my answer to a lot of problems. If I’m in a bad mood, feel tired, anxious or stressed, ugly or fat, etc., then I go exercise. If I overeat, as I did tonight; then I get to put in some time on the treadmill. In my defense, I got creative with supper tonight. Do you ever get tired of eating the same recipes or get tired of going to the store before you can even begin to fix anything? Both of those scenarios were a problem for me.
So after scouring the refrigerator and the cabinet, I decided to slice up a big sweet potato, 2 apples (Braeburn, I think), and add in a handful of pecans and raisins, all covered in about ¼ cup of butter and ½ cup of brown sugar on a cookie sheet and baked it in the oven at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes. I should’ve added the raisins later as they burned a little…but overall…excellent! I just love it when a new recipe becomes a keeper, don’t you? Eat – Workout. The only formula ever needed to maintain weight is to burn off any excess calories that your body doesn’t need. The only way to lose weight (without undergoing some sort of procedure) is to burn off more calories than your body needs. It is that simple…and it always has been. But, that doesn’t require a person to buy anything…so we will probably continue to be deluged with ‘secrets ‘ and ‘new discoveries’ leading to weight loss.
